For A Start

It has been a while since the Sultanate of Oman had started to hire Filipino Teachers to teach ESL, Engineering, IT, Business and Applied Science courses in this oil rich nation. Many have tried and much to their surprise, Oman is a very peaceful country that has high regards to Teachers regardless of religion, gender, educational attainment and in fact sexual orentation. Filipinos Teachers are well regarded as professional in dealing with their work, hardworking and an infinite patience with the Omani students. This blog is dedicated to all Filipino Teachers teaching in the Colleges and Universities in the sultanate of Oman

  2. Thanks George for giving me an idea. I've been thinking if i will accept the offer to teach in Oman.I have heard that salary of teachers in there is much higher than salary of teachers here in the Philippines. But will they allow my family or my son to come with me in Oman?

    1. You are right. The teacher's salary is three times higher than the Philippines. Yes, the agencies will allow you to have your family status once you are out of probation meaning after three months of your probationary period.

  3. hi george

would you recommend TATI or Globenet (Oman-based) for agencies? how about i-rekrut or RPR international (local agencies)..they have contacted me but i am having second thoughts...i heard the employer will change your contract once you arrive there and they will keep your passport...how true? once i was excited but after hearing this, i was disappointed...also heard that salaries vary with different agencies even if the position is the same...i hope u can shed light on this...thanks a lot...annie

    1. Hi annie,

I am not working in the College anymore. I resigned last year because I migrated to Canada. I was an employee of Globnet for seven years. You can keep your passport if you give your college or marter's or PhD diploma (original) to them for security purposes. There are many teachers (some Filipinos) who left their jobs without doing the proper procedure. Yes, salaries are differ between agencies. So it is up to you to negeotiate your salary. Both agencies (TATI and Globnet) are reputable but I don't like the staff at Globnet specially the human resources. They lied to their employees before during salary adjustments and my gratuity was affected since they were not true to their words. Every agency has its own negative feedback but if your goal is to teach Omani students, then salary might not be a big issue. If you ask me if I want to go back and teach again in Oman, my answer is DEFINITELY. I am just preparing for my citizenship here in Canada and I will come back and teach again. Oman is a very beautiful country and the people are very respectful and friendly. (But not all) You will be lucky if the administrators of the college are supportive of the staff. Let me know if this has been helpful to you...

  6. Hey George, great article. It is true how Oman is embracing teachers from all over the world. Education system in Oman has a lot of prospects for aspiring teachers. Oman has devised a strategy for the future of education to benefit the teaching class & students equally. Check out Education in Oman

  7. Many of us usually want to send our children to Europe or the USA for further studies. Even Canada for that matter along with Russia and Germany has emerged as one of the top destinations across the globe for higher studies. But if you look at the growth in this industry in the past few years, you will be shocked and surprised to know that the Middle East has come at par with the level of education offered in the west. Even further dividing, Oman has managed to emerge as one of the best places to study in the world with great infrastructure, modern facilities and emergence of schools like Al Ghubra by P Mohamed Ali, that have breached the barrier to attain international status.
